You hear it all the time. Is the glass half full or half empty? I’m a half full kind of person. He’s a half empty kind of person.
Bullshit! Whether it’s half full or half empty is irrelevant. It’s what you do with what is in the glass that matters.
Don’t praise yourself as positive because you say the glass is half full. Or criticise someone else because they say its half empty. It doesn’t actually matter.
Half empty or half full. It actually has the same volume. It’s what you do with what you have that determines your world and your wellbeing.
You can save it for later and risk that you spill it and lose it anyway. You can drink it all now and hope that more will be forthcoming. You can share it with the people around you so everyone gets some.
That’s just like what you do with money … scrimp and save, and drop dead before you have time to spend it. Spend it with abandon and live on the poverty line when you are 60. Give it to your grandkids and watch them enjoy it now instead of leaving it to them when you die. All these are choices, and you need to make the choices that make you happy.
Open your mind to using what’s in the glass, and be amazed at the opportunities that are created. Deciding what to do with what is in your glass is so much more fulfilling than worrying about whether it is half-full or half-empty.
So get over the half-glass phenomenon, and get on with creating a life that you want to live. Stop focusing on what is, and start focusing on what could be. Create, expand and enjoy. Love what’s in the glass, live for what is possible.
And while you are at it, can you hand me that wine bottle, my glass has room for more!
